Chris-Leef General Agency, Inc. is a family run business with family values. We have gone to great lengths to provide you with the most experienced and knowledgeable underwriting staff. We have selected the individuals on their expertise and special abilities to handle any situations and accounts that develop every day in this ever-changing industry of ours. Our staff is dedicated to “underwriting”; we want to understand the risk you are trying to place so we can provide the correct and most adequate coverage and pricing available. Our focus is on our customer and making sure their needs are met in the most timely and professional manner possible.

Gary Peterson - President/Owner

Gary has been running Chris-Leef General Agency since its inception in 1982. Gary is a graduate of Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS with a Bachelor of the Arts Degree. He also holds his CIW and ASLI Designations. Gary has been involved with a number of organizations and served in a number of positions over his career including the Penn-America Advisory Board, Scottsdale Advisory Board, NAGA President, AAMGA, and Homeowners Association Boards. Gary has spent a great deal of time working with AAMGA and currently serves on the Executive Board as the West Region Director.
Gary has three children (1 son and 2 daughters). He enjoys Scuba Diving, Hunting, and Snow Skiing.

Chris is responsible for much of the underwriting, technology, and internal operations. Chris has been around the insurance industry all of his life. He started as a filing clerk in the mail room as a teenager and started working full-time in the industry in 2007. Chris completed a month internship at Bell & Clements, Ltd at London broker where he learned a great deal about the Lloyd’s Insurance Marketplace. He then went on to work for two years with Nautilus Insurance Company in Scottsdale, AZ in various underwriting capacities.
Chris is a graduate of Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri where he majored in Insurance and Risk Management. He then went on to complete his Masters of Business Administration at Missouri State University.

He is currently involved in a number of organizations including American Association of Managing General Agents (AAMGA) and National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices (NAPSLO). Chris lives in Overland Park, KS and is married with two young boys.
